Chimney Removal
Redundant chimney stacks removed safely — tiled over for a clean, weathertight finish.
- Removed to roof level or below as required
- Roof tiled over with matching tiles
- Fixed pricing with no hidden extras
A Redundant Chimney Is a Liability, Not a Feature
If your chimney is no longer connected to a working fireplace or stove, it serves no purpose — but it still costs you money. Redundant chimneys leak, require ongoing maintenance, and in severe cases become structurally unstable. The mortar, flaunching and flashings still need maintaining, and the stack itself adds weight to your roof structure for no benefit.
Radiant Roofing removes redundant chimney stacks across Kent, Sussex and Surrey. We take the stack down to roof level — or below if you prefer — install appropriate ventilation to prevent condensation in the remaining flue, tile over the opening with matching tiles and ensure a fully weathertight finish. The result is a cleaner roofline, no more maintenance costs and no more leak risk.

Frequently Asked Questions
Chimney removal typically costs between £800 and £3,000. A standard single-flue removal to roof level with tiling over runs £800 to £1,500. Larger multi-flue stacks, removal below roof level or combined internal breast removal sit at the higher end. Scaffold is included in all our quotes.
In most cases, chimney removal falls under permitted development and does not require planning permission. However, if your property is listed or in a conservation area, you may need Listed Building Consent or planning approval. We can advise on this during our survey and recommend checking with your local planning authority if in doubt.
Not if done correctly. We install a ventilation tile or slate vent in the tiled-over area to maintain airflow through the remaining flue. This prevents condensation building up inside the closed-off flue. If the internal chimney breast is also being removed, we ensure the flue is capped with a ventilated plate.
We cover Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex and Surrey. Our teams regularly carry out chimney removals in Tunbridge Wells, Crowborough, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Uckfield, Haywards Heath, East Grinstead and surrounding areas.
